That prop will reduce your RPM's. Can you get the motor up a little higher? That would raise your RPM's

I Dont Have A Jack Plate

there should still be adjustment.. there are a few holes on the clamp bracket...
you should be running faster!!!!! do a compression test!!!!!!!
if you don't know how do a search on here it will explain it!!!!

Is your motor mounted on the top holes, if so you will need a jack plate for more height, (obviously):). Which would take you to a very adjustable set up for tuning in the right prop. I think for every inch of pitch you go up on a prop, you loose about 200-300 RPM. I think its in that range. The best thing for you to do is; figure out your optimum operating speed (RPM) and get your motor to turn that with which ever prop best suits you, i.e. top end, hole shot......Being able to adjust the motor height will give you more options for prop selection as well, it will allow you to turn more RPM, and run bigger props, if you do this, make sure you get a water pressure gauge as well. Thats what will limit the height you can run.

I Just When And Looked The Motor Is Mounted In The Second Hole From The Top.should I Move It Up A Hole Or Two . It Takes Out Of The Hole Like A Raped Ape But I Dont Care About That I Want Top End .it Has 5 Holes And Three More To Go Higher

The Factory Says 5000-5200 But Some Guys Said Its Ok To Run 5800,and Some 6000 And A Little Higher But I Was Thinking 5600-5800

Change one thing at a time, I'd stick with your current prop, put the motor up one hole and get out and test her. You want to see how more height is going to effect your RPM before you decide to change props. Look at it this way; you are currently running approx. 5000 RPM with the 23", if you raise the motor till you are seeing around 5600-5700 then consider a jump to the 25", that should bring you back down to around 5000. Just be conscious about your water pressure as you increase height, don't want to burn anything up!!

Just watch your water pressure, if you plane out and that psi gauge is fluttering and not stayin steady over 12psi STOP, and idle back to the ramp and take it back down a hole!

I think you'd gain enough to make it worthwhile by putting on a manual jack plate, just 6 inches. It gets some bow lift for you, and also makes it easy to adjust engine height.

yer digging a hole with yer prop. You need to get the prop NEAR the surface. I wouldn't go to surfacing with that lower, you'll put the pinion right out the side. If you have enough water pressure, you're still OK. If you fully trim in the engine for the hole shot, you'll have plenty if dig.

I do mid 60's on a slightly wet 88 Tracker, which should be a little less performance than yer boat. That's with a Xr4, which is a 2.4 L motor.

I'm doing some other things too. The trolling batteries, which need replacement anyway, are going from group 27 to group 24. The charging system is going from 16 amp to split 40 amp. Batteries will automatically parallel for charging any time the ignition switch is on. The bank charger, which is only plugged in when the boat is in the shed, is going to be a wall charger. No need to haul it around on the lake. Last, but not least, I've lost 25 lbs over the winter.

hope it helps
John
