Well. Finally got things all rigged up with my "new" 2005 225X's.

Thanks for all your help Ed "Highvelocity" and Alex " Apache86". We went through a lot of beer, but I could not have done it without you guys.

Gonna drop her in this morning and give it a blast. I'll let you know how things go.

Well, the motors run strong, but not without issue.

We installed new thermostats and water pumps, however both motors overheat after a few minutes running through no wake zones. Alarms set off on both motors. They run fine when on plane, but can't seem to idle more than a few minutes without overheating. Any ideas?

Also the port side motor is hard to shift into gear. A few times it did not fully engage today.

Did you replace the Poppets?

make sure the nut's that hold the cables are not tightened against the cables you should be able to spin the black washerbehind the nut's ..

Merctech,
Unfortunatly the cables or holders aren't the problem, that would be too easy...LOL The starboard motor had steering binding issues that worked out after some lube and elbow grease.

On the port motor the shifter arm would not move. It needs to be worked like the steering, lots of lube. It will get better.

Unfortunaly the maintenance of these motors before Dave got them was sub par.

Also, I thought that most poppet valves opened after 2500 RPM??? These are Pro-Maxes so I'm not 100% sure. This is definatly more of an idling problem. I should also add, the old T-stats looked very bad...!!!
