Looks good. Looks like it might have originally had the same color scheme as mine. As someone else mentioned, that's a ton of setback...what is that, 10"? Might not need all the bow lift from that chopper with the setback. Have fun and be safe! :)

I havent messed with the set up yet. I bought the boat from a friend of Wildman. They said it ran 86 with 4 people and 98 on GPS with 2 in the boat. I'll know more when it goes in the water next week.

Keith the boat was same color as yours but was changed before I got it.

Fig This is the boat Kevin brought back for me.

Photo Below. is how it looked when I got it.

Looks AWESOME, to me! How long did it take?

Bought it last december and stripped the decks and had a local paint shop do the spraying. I had new decals made and put them on myself. Had the seats done. I put seat slides on bolth front seats. I put the boat back together. I would say I had 40-50 hrs of my own time.

Check out my project I did the winter before. Its a 1942 Century Sea Maid Barrel Stern Split Cockpit I did everything myself except for the gold leaf. I had about 250 Hrs and it has 15 coats of varnish brushed on.

Beautiful job on both boats. Put my name at the top of the list when / if you decide to sell the ProComp.

Buried in the snow outside and buried in work in the shop.
Beautiful craftsmanship on both projects, the century brings back lots of memories, of wearing out my finger prints stripping, sanding and stroking on the brite work, it's an art.
I still own many nice Badger brushes.
What did you stroke on there? AwlSpar was one of my favorites, but learned as a kid with Z-Spar Capts. Varnish cu tit down with some Penetrol and stroke on like honey, flows like glass and dries super quick.
As an adolescent I helped my Father restore a few 1920-30s Trumpys those old school boats are spectacular, lots of fond memories.
Congrats,FIG

Fig on the Century I used Epifanes Wood Finish Gloss for the first 5 coats as you don't have to sand between coats. I would just scotch brite to take the shine off so you could see where you were. Wood Gloss Varnish for the rest. On the next 5 coats I would sand with 320 between and on the final 5 I would sand with 400 grit between coats. I roll it on and then tip with foam brush. I found it goes on heavier and flatter. In the end I wet sand with 1500 and finish with 2000 and buff just like doing a car. You have yo love caulking and masking all the deck seams and then re masking to Paint all the deck seams white.

When you go to a show and you know the guy next to you spent $10,000. to have someone strip and refinish his boat it makes you know that the 200 plus hrs and the $900-$1,000. in material was well worth it and yours shinse as good if not better. The Century is 1 of 5 that Century built in 1942. I have only found one other photo of a Sea Maid 171 on the internet and other than that theres not much info available. Just glad to see that someone got to have some fun with some varnish over the years.

Got to go to work and try to make some money.
Steve
