I had the opportunity in between rounds to take some pictures at the St. Louis National Drag Boat Association race this weekend. There were quite a few outboards - especially in the 10 second class. Weather was AWESOME 95% of the time (20 minutes of rain on Saturday and about 10 minutes on Sunday) so some of the pictures saw the sun not cooperating, but it was a lot of fun nonetheless.

The classes are set up by et. The outboards run against the big blocks in the same class.

I ran...not well though. We've been flooded so I haven't been able to test with the 260 powerhead (the ProMax is being gone through so I put my 260 together to start off the year with). I went out and qualified at 11.5 - right in no-man's land. So I tried slowing down and adding weight and was only able to get it to 11.89 during Qualifying. I added 5 more gallons of gas and that through my clock number off so I got beat on the line during River Racer and ran a 12.11.

I entered second chance and dialed in at 11.95 then promptly ran through at 11.84. The 9 second hydro I raced against broke out by .024 trying to catch me so he got me by being the lesser of the breakouts.

I just didn't have enough shots at the clock to get it dialed in (I wasn't at Poplar Bluff so this was the first race of the year for me).

So, I'll be better set next time by either putting on my 26cc heads and stepping up to SE or by bringing more weight and starting out in River Racer.

Good pics Sam, I've got some I'll get posted up later today. I just got in last night. Sorry I didn't get back to you before you left, I had to get over and congratulate Brad, and then I looked around and you were gone.

Actually, my PM was faster. I ran 11.27 with it last year. This is my 260. I think my Air Temp sensor went bad (that would be a first...though it is 17 years old!). The motor ran so great and crisp the first few times I took it out to break it in. I ran it at Blarney Island a few weeks back and then at this race and it didn't want to idle and didn't want to punch or turn up (8360 with a 24" was the best I could do...8600 with a 22"). I tried two different ECUs (My Brucato PCU and an A63) and they both showed the same problems.

Reeds were fine (that was my first thought). Fuel pressure was a steady 54-55 pounds so we're going to tear through it and just make sure nothing happened.

First picture is at about 400' and the second one is at about 1000', if you look closely you can see his nose on the right hand side of the pic. Will post more pics later.
