Hi,

I have a 1990 Checkmate predictor 16' with 115 Envenrude. I have two 5 gal. "portable" gas tanks in the back. Is it a good idea to install a gas tank in the front of the boat (under the bow cover)? I am sure it would diminish bow rise at start up, but will it affect performance in some way?

YES,you won't be able to fly the bow at high speed(u will lose top speed)

Also with the tank that far away from the point where the balances on the water at speed, changes in the amount of on board fuel would have a much greater impact on the overall balance of the boat, whereas tanks in the rear have very little impact on the balance due to having much less leverage.

Thanks a lot for your answers. I will keep the fuel tank in the back.
