Just mounted my offshore can to a single ram clamp with a 2 piece exhaust plate. I noticed there was a difference in the gap between the front of the can and the clamp inself. The top of the can is about 3/16" closer to the clamp than the bottom. Should the gap be the same? Any ideas what could be wrong or is this normal. Thanks

i changed mine over a few years ago.. mine is the exact same way, with a 1 piece adapter... mine is a 20" 2.4 ridgeback
not saying they are all a like that, but mine is, and runs great... if yours is wrong, so is mine!!!!

Roy, I put a couple thick washers where the top two motor mounts bolt to the steering tube and evened it up. Should be OK now. Thanks for the info though. The bottom of my cowl rests on the exhaust plate now without any problems, nice and flat.

when i put an offshore mid on mine it was just the opposite, the can is closer at the bottom then it is at the top. i checked a parts drawing at a parts website an used that to make sure i put it together like it showed. 280 merc with one piece adaptor
