I upgraded my 1980 20 ft Baja(mercruiser 350) to electronic ignition last year . (pertronix malory electronic ignition conversion kit) I have approx. 20 hrs. on the new ignition and it burnt up this past weekend. Anyone now why this would happen? The ignition box on top of the plate was blackened where the red and black wire attached.
I put the points and condensor back in for the time being. It seemed to run alot better with the electronic ignition.
