I am new to the site but have been lurking for quite some time and have found a sweet project boat to spend some time on. Thanks to Casey Corley for the Vector. Needs some work which will be a learning opportunity for me and counting on lots of site knowledge to keep me headed in the right direhttp://i25.tinypic.com/242fvv9.jpg[ction. Some pics of the boat:[IMhttp://i31.tinypic.com/whzic5.jpgG]http://i25.tinypic.com/wqogv6.jpghttp://i26.tinypic.com/2hrmv0h.jpg[/IMGhttp://i25.tinypic.com/242fvv9[IMG]http://i26.tinypic.com/2ep2gyb.jpg.jpg] I will need to decide about center versus side steer and willprob go side as my 11 yo son will ride. Will do total interior build, bench, trailer and boat repaint and then start looking for motors. Thinking about Merc either 2-2.5 liter 150's but will be open to advice. Setback etc to follow. Can't wait.

That's a really cool find. It may possibly be a comp model too.Yes, it looks very much like a comp Vector. Lucky you!
I don't think the comp had any core so the resto should be straightforward. This is a rare and valueable boat IMO, take your time and do it RIGHT! Comp Vectors are very light but fragile.
The splashwell will have to be cut out to replace the transom. All that metal crap should come out, if the transom is done correctly there is no need for it. The scab braces and struts are to support a wet, weak transom.
If that boat landed in my lap I would be one happy monkey.

I was out for the weekend and appreciate all the comments. The transom is stable as I ran picks in all bracket holes and encountered hard wood. I am going to pull the drain plugs and thru hulls and see what I find. I was excited about the aluminum work as it tied each stringer and where the stringers were bolted there was no soft wood. I am going to reseal each thru hull and thru stringer to prevent contamination but if the consensus says take out the alum I will. What would you seal the floor with?
