merc 150 hard to start

my roomate has a merc 150 and so do I. I have to pursuade mine in order to start but once it starts it runs all day, no problems. all he has to do is turn the key and vroom. any ideas?

Any engine specific details? Year? Carb or EFI?

50 hours, still in break-in mode adding extra oil

look at your spark plugs, see if they are blackened
