Just wondering if the rubber washers are needed and what they do on upper stock motor mounts from a 1985 XR2 150. I am talking about the washers on the inside. There is a nut then steel washer and then the rubber washer. Part #28 in the pic below.

I thing it cushions the washer against the torque so it doesn't eat the housing.
Maybe I'm wrong....

mounts with solid's ......leaked water until I put the rubber washers back in.....hope this helps...Jim

I have heard you do not need the washers with solid mounts. I do not see how they would stop a water leak as they do not seal against anything.

I beleive they seal from leaking threw the motor mount bolts... don't know for sure ...but all I can tell you is mine stopped leaking....Jim
