I have a 92 2.5 litre 175 merc and I can't find the serial number. Can someone help me please. Thanks. Smitty

Found it on the swivel bracket. Should have been on the freeze plug also, but nothing there. Smitty

For some reason, Merc. didn't put the number in the same spot, year after year!
Some are here... some there! The re-mans are in a different spot altogether!
Some don't have any!

Check the freeze plug on the top of the block. Make sure the numbers match.

Thanks John. The one on the freeze plug is missing. Don (Former Merc Mech) says it is probably a replacement powerhead and they didn't transfer the one from the previous one. I'm so glad to be back in the outboard business. Had a Ski Nautique the past 12 yrs. and sure missed the OB engine boats. Had an inline ('76 - 1500XS) in the early 80's for about 7 yrs.
