Mercruiser 350 Carb 260's HP & Torque Increases?

I know everyone is going to start breaking my b_lls, but here goes.:rolleyes:

I have a 30' SeaRay with 350's and V-Drives. The boat is a pig. What can I do to the motors to increase HP and Torque. I would like to see the boat pick up 7-10 MPH. I don't know too much about 4 stroke engines.

TO fend off stupid comments from the Jerry, Hoser, Ghost28, RobF, Drik Pitt, and any other knuckledheads.

Wax the bottom of boat.

build a pair of 383's(crank/rod/piston change)-that and possibly a set of vortec heads with the correct intake- should get you over 320 hp w/ the right cam- that boat will never be fast though, the other option is to convert it to stern drive- probably 5-8 mph gain

Bolt on two superchargers. That's probably your cheapest way to make reliable HP and still keep idling smooth around the dock.

I think you can pick up a Paxton Supercharger kit for around $4000 or so.....so for $8000 you should be good to go. Should be able to add close to 100hp per motor and still run them on pump gas. Plus, supercharges make good power and torque down low, so you won't have to spin the motor up high to get the extra HP.

I guess you could go with new exhaust manifolds, new cams, new intakes, new heads.....and then you'll have to tear the motors all apart.

I'm no expert....but I know a little about SC's.

yeah, and smoke the vdrives w/ the hi torque output not to mention the need for premium fuel and the fuel consumption

Yeah, Wipples............Down side, ya gonna need ta check out tha Vdrive stuff, gears, couplers, shafts and STRUTS. Might be enough ta make it a piglet............T

On ebay you can get twin turbos for nice price...friend just bought 302 mustan twins for 2200 and at dealer is 6000. Twins are free flowing turbos that work with mufflers. Not sure on boosting vdrives.
