see you there. tom:cheers:
This is near I-69 and US-12. To get to Marble Lake:
From US-12 in Quincy, take Ray Quincy Rd 2 miles south, R on Wildwood Rd. The launch is at the end of the street. The race site is nearby, to the north. Just look for the boats parked at the island.

If the turnout looks good I'll go too.
I'll be the only 4 cycle there unless the guy on the first page with the blown alky flatbottom shows up.
I'd like to show up for one of the Marble Lake dates to race a little, and maybe do a photo shoot. It would be nice if there was one night with a really big turnout and good weather. I'll be watching this thread.
Roger, let's keep the wet side down, OK? You scared the hell out of us last year...

Wet side down this year and plenty of safety gear! Boating in the air just isn't as fun as on the water.
After flipping like that last year is why I went with a Hydro now. Should be fun. May not be ready for the first race????

I can tell ya what date most of us aren't going...........Sept. 5 -- Hot Boat Weekend AKA Hardy Party.
I won't be racing unless I find another prop. My 24 ET cracked last weekend.
I need a nice 24 Yammatilly if anybody has one.

Everyone please watch the weather in Quincy Michigan this Friday for the races. Looks like possible thunderstorms? Just a heads up.
Lightning or rain and no races.:( Those are the rules we have to follow.
All racers will be required to sign a release form in order to run. Safety laws and recommendations below.
Must have a Life Jacket, Throw Cushion, Horn or Whistle, Fire Extinguisher and Kill Switch. All of the following are recommendations. Kill Switch for both Motor & Fuel Pump, Helmet, Life Jackets with Leg Straps and Face Up Floatation.
Changes that had to be made according to the meeting with the DNR and Local Water Patrol.

Does the track get to slick when it rains or what??

This Friday the 13th races are cancelled because of DNR, Water Patrol, and possible weather issues. No choice on our part.
We have to do what the DNR and Water Patrol tells us. Otherwise the races will not happen.
Hopefully the 27th will be on but back on Marble Lake. This event is turning into a big pain in the A$$!
I am not in charge of this! I am just the messenger who tries to help.
Racin tonite??????
The answer was there before the question...
This Friday the 13th races are cancelled...
Details? What's the deal with the DNR/water patrol? I thought the permits were in place.
What did DNR, WATER PATROL have a problem with other than the weather, if anything?? Just curious

More changes still need to be changed before the races can be resumed. Therefore the races are cancelled this Friday the 27th.
Racing should resume the next scheduled date on Marble Lake. All races will be held at Marble Lake from now on. The sandbar needs to be buoyed off and all boats running must have a racing number. Cheap numbers will be available if you can't get one. You must keep the same number for the rest of the scheduled dates. Besides the release form, people will have to leave boat and contact information. It is also possible that after this year everyone must be a member of the APBA in order to run.
One good note. We may get to add a couple dates since we have already lost two nights of racing. I will update as I find out.
SORRY & THANKS!
Thanks Roger, and please tell Tom and whoever else involved THANKS for doing everything they've done to help keep the races going.
I'll plan on being there July 11th. I'll take care of photo coverage. :D
I might race a bit too. This site is perfect.

I can see how it's going to progress with authorities involved.
Registration, safety inspections, insurance, entry fees, drivers health certificates, Etc.
The accident last year brought a lot of attention and it will likely never be the same low key event again.

06-28-2008, 09:36 PM
All the changes really have nothing to do with my accident. We already had a big meeting last year about that. It went very good.
It mostly has to do with the fact that we have had to work with three different DNR Officers in the last month. The new ones decided to start reading the fine print on the permit.
95 rapid--- does greg meyers have an email address or is he a S&F member??

Great group of guys........great place (Marble Lake) to race. But...all this new stuff for this year just kinda takes the fun out it and looks like trouble on the horizon. I probably won't make the trip down this year unless there's gonna be a big turnout on one of the Marble Lake dates. Hard to justify the expense if just a couple guys show up. Ya'all have a good time this Friday and Pyro.......let's see some pics.

There will be plenty of running shots.
I was originally going to work a half-day at work, arriving a little before 6 pm. I may take the day off completely and show up earlier to hang out and catch some rays before the action starts.

Sorry Rob, that weekend was a little bit fuzzy for me, but I recall now.
That reminds me, I still haven't edited and posted the Hardy spanking footage from last year. I'll have it done about a week before Hardy this year. :p
Roger, did you say you had some makeshift numbers I could borrow for my slow boat?
I cracked my ET, so all I have to race with tomorrow is a 21p Trophy Plus. :p

It was a great time for sure! Thanks to all who ran and helped me with the paper work! I know the paper work is a pain but you guys were great about it! That is very much appreciated! The sand bar was full with spectators who love seeing you guys run! I get ask all the time about the races when I am out on the weekends.
Thanks Pyro for the lift! :smiletest:
Rich your Ally is pretty awesome to say the least! Very nice boat! :D
I thought all the boats were very nice and fast!
A special Thanks to Mitch Vanzandt, Cary Dryer and Tom Leupp. Without their help this would have never happened. Tom does most of the leg work behind the scenes with the DNR. Mitch was a big hand trying to set all the buoys and Cary helped me pick them up since I was boatless.(More Weight Next Time) Hopefully Tom Leupp will get his 565 BBC Blown Alcohol Jet out this year!
I GPDS'd the start and and finish line markers when we picked them up. It worked out to be about 670 feet. We ran out of time to get it set at 800'. Now that we have done it once we should be able to get back to 800' on the next race. Then get the other buoys to stay in place.

Rules Update for all racers. Please pass this along to anyone you know who may run this year still.
All racers must have a number big enough and in a place where the water patrol can easily see them. (Cowls & Scoops) They also must not be near the MC numbers. You are responsible for your own number. With all the new stuff we have to do we will not have numbers big enough to provide. We will have tape if absolutely needed.
The course is now going be completely buoyed off in a rectangular shape. We have to stay within the course the whole time. This means race the course, shut down, and go directly back to the start buoy. They don't want us to go around the island any more. If a racer is hot rodding outside the course they are open to get a ticket. Just like any regular boat that comes on to the course. We are going to move the start back some along with the finish. I am pretty sure the course will be shortened some from 800' so everyone can easily be shut down buy the end buoys. It may end up at 700' at the shortest.
The sand bar now will be buoyed off also. People watching will have to be behind the buoys or we may use yellow tape and PVC pipe to mark it off.
We also have to have it where only two boats at max can be on the course running at one time. There will be a sign up sheet for people to race alone or go against who ever they want. The sign up will be for 2-4 runs at most and then the next group will enter the course.
The next set of release forms will have the rest of the summer scheduled dates on them. Therefore only need to be signed once for the rest of the summer. The forms will also have a spot for your boat racing number, kind of boat, and color.
Sorry for all the hassle but i was just updated Friday night by the DNR Officer. He was real nice about it and is not after us to shut this down. This includes the water patrol. Between him and the water patrol they are just trying to get this more organized. Then they can answer complaints by stating we are meeting the conditions of the permit completely.
THANKS!
Roger
