I have a leak coming from the port side of my trim unit where the cover mates to the cast housing. The only time it leaks is if I trim fully in. If I stop 1/2" before fully in, no leaks at all. Anyone have any ides as to what the deal here is ????????

I don't know which trim unit you have since I am not a Black-belt Merc tech, but mine did the same thing and the bottom nut holding up my reservoir had come loose and my reservoir dropped down, letting fluid over the sides when fully retracted.

Mine's not like that. Mine is all self contained within the motor bracket bolting to my J/Plate. See sketch:

you may have it ofer filled. remove a couple oz of fluid. from the discription it blown out the seal as well which should be replaced. for you vacation i'd wrap 3-4 good tight layer of electrical tape over the seal seam.

I raised the motor as high as I could get it before the rigging hose snouts hit the transon, opened the fill cap and out ran allot of oil, no water found in the mix. I guess I let out about 3-5 fluid oz's, capped it back up, cleaned off all the oil w/brake cleaner, lowered the motor to full down and back up 3 times.......It Leaky-No-Mo.
Thanks for everybody response and input
