Rude/Johnny Parts Interchangeability?

I have a pristine 78 Johnson 115 except for the blown piston. I also have a not so pristine 77 Evinrude 85 but it runs. Can I take the power trim assembly off the Johnson and bolt it to the Evinrude? How about the carbs and Ignition system?

You are out of luck with the trim. They switched in 78. The carbs will work fine and would be an upgrade. The ignition will work, but you have to look closely at how everything bolts up, you may have to get creative to mount everything.

Like your boat Flo - I have one also. No way to exchange the swivel brackets and make the trim work?

go the other way put the PH of the 85 on the 115. you'll loose hp but it should work. rebuild the 115 w the 140 tuned exhaust and you get nearly 130-135 hp at the head [not prop]. that was good for 10mph on my 15 checkmate.
