I got a prolem with my 2.5 245. New to me, fresh motor. Got the wizard pistons, std. bore, compression is 140 and ports was a little high from factory. I had the WMH carbs and on my initial run after break in it started cuttin out at around 7k, it was runnin lean. It would turn a black plug white in the 1/4 mile and pistons were dry after throttle WOT chop. I jet up and it would be real fat on the bottom and lean out quiker on the top. I went as far as 76 mains and it would barely plane out and flood out before I could achieve any rpm. I bought another new fuel pump, holley blue regulated at 5 psi and the pressure dont drop at WOT (didnt help none). I then bought a set of WH-20 carbs off here and rebuilt them, they got 46 idle jets and 96 mains and its still running lean on top. Where do I go from here? I about to pull my dang hair out!! Oh yeah, its on a allison bass boat. Any help will be gratelly appreciated!! Thanks

Check for air leekz at high rpm!!.....

WH-20s on a 245 should be around.080's and be on the safe side...

When the same thang happens wit 2 differnt type carbs, chances are ya problem iz not tha carbs!!....JMO

Re-check the float heights, especially if your lean on top with 96's (should be leavin a petro trail in the water with THAT much fuel, lol)
