Recently installed dual pyro gauge(gaffrig) and looking for a set of Ultra thin probes that fit under an Alien cowl. Livorsi probes are to long for cowl. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Kurt

I have bent the Livorsi probes on the 2.5 260 as well as the 2.6 liter Yamaha.

Couldn't you do the same?

Had the same idea. I called them and they stated by bending you could possible damage internal ceramic thus making the probe readings inaccurate or no indication at all due to internal short/ground.

I thought you were suppose to bend them for clearance? Not a kink bend, but a nice radius.

Is there any engine they could possibly fit without bending?

www.archeat.com (http://www.archeat.com) try them for probes

Digatron shows to bend for proper fit, otherwise you'll have 3" sticking out the back of the cowling, lol...

The 1/16" diameter probes I buy from Omega.com say they can be bent as long as you keep the radius at least 3/8". I use the water hoses from the t-stat housings for that. :)

keith, when you sending your brother home??!!:) the omega probes are awesome, the gafrig ones were nothing but a headache(always failed), and the omegas bend much easier

Do the Omega probes provide an accurate reading on a Livorsi Pyrometer guage?

Type K thermocouple is Type K thermocouple...they have a spec to match, and they all do (or should).

I use the Omega KMQIN-062U-6 probe...

That all translates to Type K probe, Mini Quick disconnect, INconel material, .062" diameter Ungrounded, 6 inches long.

i have used them w/ both gaffrig and livorsi guages, i use a different part# though

The 1/16" probes go through the rifle drilled bolts without having to enlarge the holes, but are more prone to break as they are very thin. In that vibrating situation, I break a probe about every 30hrs.

I finally discovered who supplies Gaffrig and Livorsi their ultra thin probes. Hewitt Industries out of California is their manufacturer/supplier. They also stated that the probes could be bent as long as you don't go past 90 degrees. They suggest bending over a decent size socket to keep a nice radius. Thanks again for all the info. When these fail, I have to try Omega's

And 26 bucks is about the cheapest you're going to find one anywhere.
