What is the fuel pressure on the rail of a 250XS? First one of these I've seen and the thing is a pig out of the hole and will not turn up. I have the DDT and everything is checking ok there but when I hook up a fuel pressure gauge to the rail it pegs past 100psi. Is this normal? the air pressure fluctuates between 80 and 100psi the needle just bounces back and forth pretty fast. A standard Opti is 89 psi fuel and 79 psi air And I can't seem to remember the 20 psi bounce in the air pressure gauge when checking one of them. This is one of those everyone else has looked at it and none of them can figure it out kind of boats.

95 psi air 110 psi fuel.
Check the reeds, sounds like the problem to me.

Reeds in the compresser? I took the head off it and everything looked good there. what would make the air pressure bounce like that? Every other Opti I have seen the pressure is steady this one bounces between 85-95 about 2 times a second.

Reeds in the engine. Sluggish holeshot and loss of rpm's are usually a sure sign on the opti's. Don't know about the bouncing air psi, I've only seen that with a std. gauge instead of oil filled. Guess it could be a regulator problem. Is the fuel psi bouncing also?

Have you checked the tracker valve. A good tracker valve should keep the pressure between the air/fuel constant.

Fuel pressure is rock solid. I'll pull the intake off today and see what the reeds look like. The tracker valve looks good. got me what is wrong with this thing
