225 Opti water pressure.

My friiend blew a gearcase a few months back and was awarded a new gearcase from Mercury. Ever since this gearcase was installed, his water pressure has been low. It has been slowly getting worse, it now will overheat at idle, but when brought above idle will cool back down, but still has low pressure. It also will not pee when the flush attachment is hooked up (the other motor will). I changed the complete water pump for him finding nothing wrong, but still replaced everything. I checked the tube and adatpter...all looks good. We replaced the thermostats and poppet and all of the old stuff looked good. It's a 2004 225 Opti. It has less than 5 psi at idle and about 15 - 18 at WOT. I will be looking at it again Memorial Day weekend. I'll be dropping the lower and pressuring up the motor from the water tube looking for water comming down the can...... anything else I should look for?


The powerhead base gasket on these models...... does this one have the old style paper gasket in it?
