Can't seem to get the DDT to communicate with the ECM. Engine is a 96 Merc 260 with an A49 box but the chip inside says A31. Not sure what has been done to this before. All I get on the DDT screen is No response from ECM. Ideas? Thanks!

ECM is burned out should be running full rich when you drive it.

Had a buddy with that issue and was told he needed a new box if he wanted to hook up to DDT. His box was still firing the injectors just wouldn't communicate.
Don't know exactly which box he had...
Maybe Brucato could fix yours.....He's a supporting vendor here....

Well it is definitely rich, that is why I am trying to put on the DDT so I can lean it out. You think it is shot? That would suck! Thanks

They fail safe to full rich when they burn out.

Ok, does anyone know if I replace the chip inside with say an A-48 from US1, will it become useable again?? Also, Chad, how much for your A-36 box? Thanks

Which ddt do you have? If it is the 4 button tester and is one of the newer wons it will not work on the older boxes. Mine won't read my A63.

No the DDT I used had about 25 buttons and was borrowed from one of the local Merc dealers. There was no reason that it shouldn't work.
So I did the smartest thing that I could think of and took Jay's advice. I called Tony and Linda Brucato. I now have one of their ACU products on the way. Thanks for the advice Jay!! Thanks to all for the advice!
