I need more voltage to the batterie, installed lighter and music. But when I use lighter I need a pull. can I wrap stator/alternator a few more turns for voltage?
Get a new battery, and a Zippo lighter.

You already have a lighter. Just start up your engine, and pull the cowl. Now this step is VERY important. Make sure you wet both hands! Place one hand on the engine block somewhere, put cigarette in your mouth, then grasp #1 spark plug wire. It'll light you right up!

But what if I forget to bring my Lighter/Zippo ?

I think you need to wrap the windings a little tighter because by the sounds of it you are not wrapped too tight.

RiverRat...Can't pull them to tight could break plastic coating over copper wires.

We need to be kind to this northern guy.... First off what chargin system do ya have. A 40 amp should fry a FROG. If a 16 amp maybe ya should check your wires and rect. Adding windings will change the AMP out put but cause more woes.:o I think.:o The 6 poles in the flywheel give the volts. I think.

Actually, more windings will give more voltage, at the cost of amps. The power available is a function of the amount of iron in the stator, and the strength of the magnets.
These outboards actually generate enough voltage to charge the battery, and almost full current (amps) at idle. At higher speeds, all the current is available, and the excess voltage is wasted by the regulator.
The design of any particular system is pretty much optimized for what it's expected to do.
So, mindblock, the question remains. What do you have now to work with? Maybe it needs troubleshooting/service, or a changeout. These guys can help.
hope it helps

The make and model of the engine might help. ;)

Just wondering if more stator yellow wire winding would help charging system. Guess thats the diff with amps outputs. but like stated magnets could be less of size for different amp stators? Or more winding spark output better spark or overload cdi?

Then again, maybe not!
And yes, I have heard of people winding their own stators, but for a hotter ignition, not charging.

So if i wind stator spark plug output ....I will get a nicer spark ? :iagree:
Is the spark not already nice enough to make the engine run?
You're asking about messing with things that might not need messing with, and you still have not supplied ANY info on your motor.
This is like going to the vet's office to tell the vet what you think is wrong with your dog and ask how to fix it, but you've left the dog at home.
You're already deciding which parts you think need to be modified, and as far as I can tell, you have not done a single tidbit of by-the-book diagnostics to see what's actually wrong with your motor, if anything at all.
IF your stator is BAD, then REPLACING it might give you a better spark.
Get an OEM service manual and a Fluke meter, then test your ignition system's components.
...or just keep guessing and leaving the community in the dark.

http://www.screamandfly.com/images/admin_star.gifpyro (http://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/member.php?u=2976) Nothings wrong with my motor mercury "THUNDERBOLT" 7.5 hp..but when I use lighter I have to start my sears 10hp Ted Williams outboard motor to charge back up my mercury "THUNDERBOLT" 7.5 hp when trolling. Thought winding up the stator could help charging system or should I use a smaller prop?

use a smaller prop made for trolling it might help.

I think I'm over charging a little bit, should I use bigger prop? My lighter is shooting fire every where.;)

I still say that my suggestion would work the best. You might want to remove the wire from #1 spark plug to light your cigarette... or your crack... or whatever.

Don't most crack users utilize a little butane torch? That may be your answer mindblock.

Get rid of that Merc and get you a Sea King. That will solve all your problems. :)
I have a couple of those crack torches.
Very handy when it's time to smoke crack. ;)

Step by step instructions for a bigger lighter.
1. open gas can
2. kick can around boat
3. grab MATCHES
4. light match and quickly drop on floor
5. light, melt, liquify whatever you need to
6. relax in sauna
