View Full Version : Does anyone use anymore
i talked with a few old timers that used to race years-ago and they both spoke of running a fuel additive called proplean oxide has anyone got a clue what this might be.also said that when making record runs that you had so long between runs for a once over safety ect..and that they would use this time for their advantage ,to let the carbs thaw out ...anyone else ever herd this tale ...

I have run it in Pro Fuel. It is toxic enough that almost every sanctioning body out there have outlawed it. I don't know what this carb "thawing out" is all about. It is good for somewhere between 8-12% more power. I've got some in the shop.
say you,ve got some at your shop ,what'cha use if fer parts cleaner..or do you run it,,just kidding

Like I said, I've run it and probably will again this year. It's toxic enough that if you get any on your skin it's almost guaranteed to cause cancer. Same with breathing it. You have to be VERY careful with the stuff. The APBA will ban you for life if you use it there.
Google Polypropylene Oxide.
would you sell some...or where to buy..???????????

Sure, if you want to try it I'll give ya some. Come on over and get it.
a lot of stock car racers cheat with it i mean race with it
no names will be give to protect the innocent
lol
you have to put it in right before you go out
it dont last long it will even go right out the vent
coldest stuff on the planet if you ask me
it will make a stock motor sing like you never seen

i found alot of info in the web about this stuff sounds wicked crazy to me heres just one thing that i found
Propylene oxide ( CH3CH(O)CH2 = 1,2 epoxypropane ) has apparently been
used in racing fuels, and some racers erroneously claim that it behaves
like nitrous oxide. It is a fuel that has very desirable volatility,
flammability and autoignition properties. When used in engines tuned for
power ( typically slightly rich ), it will move the air-fuel ratio closer
to stoichiometric, and the high volatility, high autoignition temperature
( high octane ), and slightly faster flamespeed may improve engine
efficiency (http://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/#) with hydrocarbon fuels, resulting in increased power without
major engine modifications. This power increase is, in part, due to the
increase in volumetric efficiency from the requirement for less oxygen
( air ) in the charge. PO is a suspected carcinogen, and so should be
handled with extreme care.

I've used it to make an obsolete race bike run like it shouldn't have run. Used it for fun in some other stuff, mixed in nitrous enrichment fuel, etc. Works like advertised. I'd forgotten that I'm gonna die from the exposure to it though. :D
in-part i spoke with this guy purely by accident in a add i was runing in a local paper fer 2.5 mer..parts he called me from florida over my add ,and boy did he have a story to tell he claimed he held some world record and held this record for some time and done it by using polypropylene oxide and it was not permitted to use then ,he also added that you mix it 10 to 1 you could go richer but you would have freeze problems as he did between runs ....now i don'nt know how true this is but i have since met some old racers that say it is true...

"Prope" was used allot in some of the non tec gas classes when I was racing ... The BIG problem with "Prope" is when introduced to the fuel with a vented tank it is VERY aromatic and the first past is ALWAYS the strongest . Every pass there after will see a reduction in the effects because of evaporation out the vent. It would be imparative to "draw" your most stiffest competition first round if you caught him 5th or 6th round your "Prope" boost was a now a memory..
There are several BETTER products on the market to dope motor gasolines. AND they don't have the cancer long term possibility like "Prope" has...
VERY dangerious stuff , IMO I'd stay away from it. Most that handled it correctly used Nytril gloves and a cartridge type resperator..Something you don't want to be breathing escaping from a vent going under a cowling and up your nose !!!!
Good luck,
Jay

Listen to Jay. Stay away from the stuff.
