parts express is back up and running. kind of different but atleast you dont have to enter the ser num each time. dealers are very selective and in the nw its only olympic marine[part of merc].

you need to select from the pull down and not by S/N for motor before 200x.

The reason for fewer dealers is the new cost to dealers Mercury came up with.

I went there yesterday and was very unimpressed with what came up. I guess if I had nothing to do but log on and kill time it might be alright, but since I run Team Junk it is just about useless IMHO.

I talked to the guys at Supreme Marine in Minneapolis. They say they have to go through a lot of chit on their end, and pay Merc for the privilege to boot. It's better to just call them and they can get the right parts.
Think I'll get one of those parts book CD's on eBay for research.

i was able to get the parts list, exp views and prices on a 1999 200efi. its not the best system but better than nothing.
no matter who's listed as the dealer i'm going to my current dealer for parts.

This I believe is a much better site than Merc Express. Expolded views and all. I always go here first and than take the part numbers to Fuller Marine for parts. http://www.mercruiserparts.com/

So Which one of the 60 or 80 files labeled "Parts manual" are for my XR4? (on mercurypartsexpress)
Duh, great design.
Mercruiser parts works OK.

Mercury, you screwed up a good thing with parts express.
Where is the Promax motors???
No serial number entry for prior to 2000??? Hint, those are the motors that need parts.
If you go to your local dealear and ask for parts for a Promax or a 280 they cant find them. I had to convince one dealer that mercury even made the 280.!!! And dont forget you have to stand in line on Saturday while everybody else gets parts looked up.
With parts express, it was easy just look up the part number, take it to your dealer and they order it.
You ruined a good tool.
At least i have a parts manual book and now know about the BAM website.
Guys, this is the problem -- The Screw Up of Parts Express, not hillary, not Obama, not gas prices, not apple drywall,etc....
OK, I'm done.

Dealer lookup, do the local dealers know they arent in there??
All i get is Marine Max.
None of the local Mercury dealers are listed.
so this means I have to look their phone number up in the phone book.

Yep we know. We were listed in parts express for years but when Mercury changed their policy for parts express dealers many dealers including myself dropped out.
