I have twin 225x promax 2002. Port motor EGT 1250F starboard 965 @ 4500RPM, 612 and 444 Coming down to idle, 932 and 622 @ 2700. Water pressure is always higher and water temp comes up sooner on the port motor. I'm running 14.5 x 34 cleavers on a 24 Skater.

what is your egt at 6500? 1250 is fine, the other one at 965 is low. are you running dual probe gauges? left and right bank should be within 50* If both motors are running good then switch the probes first before you go crazy.

I agree with stvhelm about the probe switching to narrow down the possibility of a defective probe , BUT IMO 1250 is too hot on EGT( one glich at the gas pump with a mistake entering in a lower octane grade that top octane and its toast ) ...I'd rather see a recreational cast piston motor no hotter than 1150- 1175 its safer and they will live longer a little cooler..I have won World and High Points titles multi times in drag racing no hotter than 1175 degrees on EGT's so the 2.5 will still make BIG power a bit cooler contraire to what ANYBODY says..
I find ESPECIALLY on the Pro Max engines running a cast pistons ( OEM STOCK ) are prone to have locater pins dislodge with too hot a crown temps ...
If your pistons aren't top pinned and your running that hot a crown temp in a Pro Max the question isn't IF the locater is gonna fail its WHEN !!!

after the checking of egt probes. check your fuel pressure. higher pressure would give you a lower egt reading. it is alomst like changing the ecu. do you have probes in both sides of each motor????? you could just have a bad powerhead gasket and some water is running over the probe reading a cooler temp... i have been there!!!!!

I used 93oct from Hess the same pump for both gas tanks so same fuel both sides. The digital EGT guage and Probes are brand new 1 use on sunday. I did not go to WOT 6500 yet because of the high temp on the port motor. The port motor only has 10 hrs on it. Starboard has about 100hrs never a problem. I am looking to get some fuel pressure guages. Looking for white 2 1/8 gaffrig 60 psi, Who has the best price and servise?
