now that I have a stock 200 with under the cowl vacume fuel pump, I am wondering about the rest of fuels system.

For starters, there are two 15 gallon tanks in boat. They meet at a 3 way (manual) valve. From there, a Fram racing cartridged filter, then to a Holley Red fuel pump and regulator. I was thinking of ditching the electric fuel pump and regulator and going with a standard squeeze bulb for simiplicity and reliability.

comments?

Can the standard under cowl fuel pump be strong enough to pull fuel from tanks mounted several feet away, through the valve and fuel filter?

If the pump is working, leave it in, it will aloow fuel to get to the motor easier.

I fired up the "new" engine last night and was quite pleased. Carbs and fuel pump (under cowl) were just rebuilt (by me) and it started very quickly. No leaks, fires or strange running/noises. Electric fuel pump is still connected and pushing fuel to pump under cowl.

Is there a problem running a fuel line (with hand pump bulb on it) while running an electric pump?

I wanted to leave the bulb in place for a back up in case it quit. Then I could connect fuel line direct to tank and go around electric if it ever fails.

The bulb has a check valve and will free flow with an electric pump. Good backup idea. If the tank runs empty and the electric pump wont siphon after refilling, you can squeeze the bulb and go. I have to do that on my Weldon pump.
