took boat out & noticed gaffrig gps speedo reading 55 mph while idiling! it sweeps when key on ,reset works ,recall doesnt . just wondering if anyone has had this or similar problem,also if its toast ,what would be a good gage to fill the hole with...:rolleyes:

might be the antenna. It has very delicate connection wires apparently. My livorsi, which i beleive is basically the same gauge and antenna setup sweeps at startup, but just sits there on 20mph the rest of the time. I might give it to an etech owner so they can brag about how fast their boat is. :p

I Checked All Conections At Antenna & Gage, All Ohm Out Ok ,trying To Figure Out If Problem Is Antenna Or Gage. Dont Have Any Info As Gage Was In Boat When I Got It & Always Has Been Accurate Until Now. Was Wondering If 55 Mph Could Be A Code.

its not an antenna but a garmin 35 gps. do a search for garmin 35. and get the manual. you can connect it to a laptop with mapping software and determie if the issue is the gps or the head. there is also several SW programs out there that read nmea sentences again using a laptop. see if the gps is out putting nmea, it might have gotten switched to the garmin protical.

just noticed gaffrig website has customer service .... thanks flabum ,i think i"ll give it a try,also was wondering about nordskog gps speedo,they used to be the best , many years ago, any imput ...anyone??

not sure but arent nordskog made with the same Autometer internals as Livorsi and Gaffrig????????
