GC Compatability ?

Is it possible to interchange the gear case from a 1982 200 Merc to a 1994 XRI 175? The bolt pattern appears to be the same.

It will fit with no problem, but its a pre-load and not near as stout as '85 and later stock gearcases..............T

The GC I'm thinking about putting on is a aftermarket type, I believe it may be a sportsman. It has a bullet style nose cone with low water pick-ups. It was on the mota that my brother and I have on an old SST Sleekcraft. The boat is going on the market so I'm thinking about putting the GC on my Astro beforehand.

BTW, I put the injectors in after having them serviced by Brucato and the boat runs awesome. Only ran 65.5 GPS fully loaded because there was too much Sunday traffic to let it all hang out.:( It did idle perfectly though.
