What this boat is really worth.

1990 Liberator 21', hull is chalky, has a 91 GT300 on it, vinyl is weak but wood is fresh. Small stress crack on the side (dealer reinforced it from the underside several years ago) carpet is good, transom seems solid. It has a jack plate that the pump is out on, the owner says it will do 100 on GPS. Very nice tandem axle trailer. He says it is lake ready, and he says less than 200 hours on the motor because he was injured several years back and he hasn't been able to use it regularly in quite some time.

I appreciate all input because I am considering a serious offer on this boat (even though I have 3 "projects" already) because the Wifey said ok. He wants $9k.

If it`s done right you`ll have 5K minimum in paint and interior. So now your looking at 14K in it. If your ok with that then go for it. I would try to get it for less if not fo anything else, The lower unit on those motors are kinda weak. It will last longer if you don`t surface it. Of coarse then what fun could you have in that kinda boat. It`s made ta run fast.

I suppose you could sell the V-8 and put somehing on it a lil more gas friendly.

Do a compression test on the motor and see if he will take you out in it before you buy it. Those "low hour" boats can be a bees nest.

Thanks for the replies.. I put the pics in my gallery, but I am not sure how to post them in here on this board. I was thinking that with the weak paint/interior the boat was probably more of a $6-7k boat. I inquired about buying just the boat/trailer but it will come as a package deal with the V8. I am not a big fan of Johnson V6 - V8 motors anyway, so it will have to be replaced.

Can someone give the scoop on posting the pics into this thread? I usually just right click and use the addy of the pic, but no right click in the gallery except on the thumbs.
