I have an old 85 hp merc with a distributor, I am trying to set the timing belt, I have the notch on the dist. wheel and the notch on the housing lined up and the little arrow pointing to the center of the crank shaft. But I dont have the three dots on the flywheel to lineup with, only the timing grid tape. TDC on this one?
this is an 850 ser.# 4300730 Thanks for any help

high toxo i looked up your serial #in the seloc repair book i got the book for 90horse threw 300 horse ,i am thinking this is 1975 or 1976 moter correct?is it a 4or 6,cylender?let me know and i will give you the step by stepi will check again later this after noon

Thanks johnny, it is older early to mid 70's 4cyl with a maginato dist, may not be in your book. Thanks for looking. I ran at lunch time and barrowed a manual from a friend, I try not to work on the old ones but its hard to say no sometimes. Thanks
