I just purchased a 1979 BAJA with a 1989 Evinrude 150XP with VRO. It came with an aluminum prop. I purchased a stainless Shooter prop Part #431717 it is a 13-1/2 x 23PP four blade. The individual I purchased it from said it would fit my motor but when I put it on the motor the diameter if the hub is smaller then the aluminum prop. Is this the correct prop for this motor and is the smaller hub normal?

It may be OK. I know the Renegade uses a smaller than normal hub to allow some exhaust to go over the hub.

I have run the same prop on my boat the small hub lets the exhaust flow
over the prop and makes it slip so that you get the RPMs up into the power band for a better hole shot.

I personaly didnt like this as I found for me it was no good for towing kids on toys and things, not a good slow speed prop but once hooked up works well.

Thanks for the info. I have talked to a former OMC engineer that has confirmed the information I am getting here.

It also requires a different thrust washer. I have a 25 and 27 shooter and think they are great for pulling.

Do you know the part number for the thrust washer or where I can get one? The local dealers are no help and BRP only answers questions for newer engines. Thanks.
