We're in the process of moving to a house on a small river. Large powerboats are not allowed but a Scanoe or paddle boat would be perfect. I've got a Rude 4 Delux that might do the job. Just something to get out there & have some fun. Could possibly use it in the larger river for r/c boat retrieval as well.

The wife kind of likes the idea of being able to paddle a little while I like the idea of two stroke smoke.;)

Anyone use these?

I've used one a bunch in Canada with a 2.5 hp johnson. Pushed it well, I think around 6-7 mph and seemed to run a whole week on 3 gals of gas.

get a jackplate on it.

12" should work fine for a starting point.

Grumman
Model- G1640CS
Length - 15' 7"
Beam - 36 1/4"
Ribs - 5
Center Depth - 13 1/4"
Keel - Standard
Mx.Wt.Cap.Persons - 655/570lbs
Max H.P. - 5
Hull Wt. lbs./Gauge - 64/.040

These are very nice. Exceptionally stable. Very light and easy to transport. They used to make outriggers you could attach to these that would make them even more stable, enough so that you could stand up in it without tipping. Personally I haven't been in a coleman. But I have had experience with the grummans.

Only if you put a 25 hp on it, haha. I think one would be realy fun with a 10-15 hp.

I have a Scanoe with a 6hp Nissan outboard. Handles the motor with no problem. The boat actually runs faster with two people aboard, kinda just knifes through the waves instead of lifting the bow like its trying to get on plane all the time. I've had this boat in the roughest water you can imagine, cruiser and houseboat wakes coming from every direction at once, and it just rolls right along. And as was said, fuel consumption is amazing.

My neighbor has had one for years that he uses with an older 2.5 hp Merc. Plenty stable. I never went fishing with him in it but my dad did...said the thing was much heavier than carrying a normal canoe.
