Hello everyone! :) Have finished with the lastest mods to my 85 2.4L 200 ie; reeds, tuner, head compression bump to 148-150. removed the oil injection to pre-mix. The question I have is what are the Max RPM's I should be targetting with these mods? Is my RPM Max limited soley by props and set-up or is there a rev limiter on this mota. I have been told that this mota will run 7000 all day long:cool: . The engine has been running rich....so I have rejetted from a 80 to a 78. Holes #2 and # 5 had 82's in them which I came down to an 80 on. Do these normaly run hotter than the other holes? I'd like to get this rig running in the upper 70's or 80's  if possible it's on a 19ft Hydra -Sport fishin' rig. I might be dreamin...any thought's or info is greatly appreciated..Thanks Jim
The mods you mentioned aren't going to change the peak output RPM range, which is still realistically 6000-6400. Reeds may help idle. Tuner won't hurt, probably won't help either. The extra compression will help bottom end and midrange pull quite a bit. It may also allow you to "prop up" a pitch for top end. There's no reason to run WFO with any prop that will allow it to turn over 6500, except for short bursts with a low-pitched stump-puller prop. A taller prop that tops out under 6500 will likely be the faster prop, rather than a pitch or two down that tops out at 7K. The motor just doesn't have the porting to make good HP in that range. When I had a stock 2.4 200 (efi), my fastest runs were in the 6300 rpm range.
After the mods, you may be able to turn a taller wheel. Watch out with the jetting, because a taller prop will load the motor down more, and it will run a lot hotter as it pulls through the midrange.

Thanks for the info....will be starting with a 25P turbo lightning from my other boat to get a starting point... have a 21 also but in relation to what your saying it's most likely not going to be enough....have a 29P TXP  but believe that's going to be to much....as soon as the freekin' ice get's off these lakes..... the water trials will begin...Thanks again Jim

that 26 is going to be too much. look for a 23 tempest ot turbo. i like turbo as the are as good as trophy in reducing chime walk. be sure to have extra cupping added.
