do you have to use a different piston if you have a steel sleave in just one cylindar??? The motor is a 82 i think its a 2.4 200..

I think i found the block casting number..Anyone know how to tell what block it is by the numbers?? 092184 let me know it that makes any sense...

one other question for now..hahha....the piston number is 766-8667-1...are they stock pistons?? whats a good set of pistons to get? i want to beef up the motor a bit what mods should i look into? carbs? reeds? exhaust??

thanks nick any ideas and suggestions are greatly appriciated

You don't use a different piston but you do use different rings in a steel bore as opposed to a chrome bore. Take the time to do a search for 2.4 mods and after reading for a week or so you should have all the info available. Good luck with your project.

the steel bores are a little looser too!!!! so don't panic if the bore is a little bigger than the rest of the holes. most people use cast pistons in steel holes. a forged piston swells more than a cast one. i higher reving engine that needs a forged piston, and it is a steel sleeve, can be a problem.......
they need to warm up to running temps at a idle. you can't run synthetic oils for a long time!!!!

easy mods, cut the heads, replace reeds, re jet the carbs for the heads. one piece exhaust plate and a better tuner.

Try and find sum ART pistons for ya 2fo...also they's sum TRW's out ther too...they are cast, but were used in tha early hipo 2.4's....

Wiesco's are good also(forged) fo a 2.4...U kan have them top pinn'd, and take away the feer ov the pin cumm'in out, or run them like they are...If U don't run the mota hot, the chances ov the side pins kumm'in out drop drastiklly.....Break'in in the wiescos iz a long deel, if U don't want them to stick...Once broke in, warm up is shorter, but is still a nessesity(unless U are a reel lucky type person).....If U use weisco's, break the pistons in use'in the heat up/cool down method...run engine on hose(try to regulate heet @ 160*) for 30 minutes, let cool for 1 hour, then repeet....do this 6 times...then let run for 1 hour, and cool for an hour....do the 3 times.....then go to water, and run 10 gallons ov gas thru it @ double oil, @ 3500-4500 rpm(not holding the same rpm, and stepp'in it up to 5K or 5500, and back'in off)....after that, U are ready to do tha deel.....This long break in wuz the reason I built my break in stand, kuz when I run pro 120, I fill'd a 35 gallon drum full ov wiesco pistons till I started use'in the proceedure I juss exsplained....Oh, I still smacked a few pistons, but that wuz usually kuz sum dummy got greedy wit jets!!....Oh, and I also never lost a mota to a dislocated pin!!!
