Am I stuck using a mechanical actuator with cable on my 280 for trim or has anyone figured out how to make an electronic sending unit work with a standard guage. I would prefer not to cut my dash up. Any recommendations would be appreciated:confused:

Great site, thanks for the help.

Electric trim senders are about useless. They are never very accurate, you can get them close, but they are really not worth while. I realize the mechanical setups are more expensive, but they are the way to go if you really feel you need a trim indicator.

Dave,

I know you don't want to, but if you want any kind of accuracy your gonna have to use a mechanical gauge.

what they said. the electric are not accurate/reliable enough to use on a hipo application where a tad too much trim can be a bad thing. I went through the same thing not wanting to use a saw anywhere near my boat, but I am so glad I finally installed the stainless marine setup. big difference.
