9 amp stator to 16 amp stator?

Will a 16 amp stator fit and work on a 2.0 150 V-6 merc that has a 9 amp stator on it. I thought that I remembered that it would. If so, I probably should add a voltage regulator as this one does not have one.

That you have to use longer screws. The regulator. The flywheel with magnets as big as the flywheel, 9 amp has smaller mags.
