i wouldnt use it. I was reading somewhere fuel now is only good for 2 or 3 months before it starts seperating. THink it was a service bulleten my old merc dealer let me read. If I have older fuel I dont wanna use in the boat but dont wanna throw it way, I just use it in the weed eater and leaf blower.

Put that fuel in the oldest vehicle you own. I put mine in my sons 1979 z-28 camaro. It seems to run fine.

yeah get rid of it. fuel today is not what it used to be. The ethenol fuel draws the moisture right out of the air and the fuel appears cloudy when its bad. also, dont even think about gasing up on the water either. at least not until the gas docks are up to full operation.

sample it if its clear just run it in an old carb equiped car, or any other 2 stroke machine you dont really care about, and then just fill with fresh this is why i advocate storing EMPTY not full or partially

Our stuff here sits for 5-6 months and I always just top the tank off with fresh and never had a problem, but I don't think I'd run it in a motor that's putting out over 2 hp per cubic inch like yours. You have to be careful running it in a car or truck if it's got oil mixed with it. Maybe dump in a quart with every fillup until it's gone, but I wouldn't just pour the 5 gallons in. The oil might cause trouble with the injectors or with the catalytic converter.

If we could sell our used gasoline at $2/gallon, the cost of boating would fall significantly... ;)

Nick, as always, I don't know if you are serious or not, but what is in the lines will be mixed with a tank full of fresh fuel well before the engine has been warmed up at idle if Frank were to follow Helmut's method.

Frank, Not worth the chance! I put some gas in a jark for 2 weeks to see what happens:eek:  it seperated in 3 parts, not good. I would even consider sending the injectors out for a cleaning just to be safe, $$ well spent. Start the season with good clean stuff. My 2 cents.
Returned your PM on your ?

I know you just joking with him, but it does make a difference when you
have 10,000 in your powerhead. I run anything in my pontoon boat, speed
boat is a different story.
