Can someone please explain what the bleed system on the side of the 3 litre motors does and what happens if they get blocked or what the check valves are for ,interested to learn more.

I'd like to know more about this. too..... I have blown a couple off of the nipples recently and don't know why

These hoses are reccomended because they prevent lo-end bogging, if you block them then when you are idiling liquid fuel can pool before the reeds then when you go to throttle up motor could load up and cut out, other ones also draw excess oil collection and re-circulate (bottom of powerhead to top upper main bearing).
All very important.
If hoses split, replace.
IF fittings break, replace with only what is supposed to go back (some of these fittings are actually check-valves, others are specially sized to do their jobs effectivly.
