I'm a little unfamiliar with this subject but I have a 96 225 proMax would my TPI be external or in the ECU Box stock for that year? Im asking because I have no idea what it even looks like? :D My ECU was a 824003A17 is that analog or digital ECU ? I under stand the analog ones are external. What would this one be?

Your box is a Digital box. The TPI is on he sarbord side of the motor on the intake plenum. IF you look uner the Water Seperator you will see a a pot down low on the plenum even with the lower throttle shaft. This is the TPI, it will be affixed with two screws and have slots for allowing adjustment..
The internal/external TPI stuff is on the Horn motors ECU's..

I also have a promax but a 200 JSRE. I also was curious on how to set the TPI, I know you got to have a meter, and I think you read OHM's to a certain number just curious.

You have an annalog ECU. The digital ecu's have a wire harness coming out of the bottom front with a coupler on it to connect to a ddt or cds.
The correct ohms for the tps is .240 - .260 you need a ddt, cds, or an adapter harness from Mercury to read it with your volt meter. If you use a volt meter, you have to unplug the temp sensor on the port head to get the correct reading.

That's actually a voltage reading not an ohms reading.;)

A meter works a little better than the ddt.

if i rember right you have an acu. the acu does not take readings from the tpi, it is one more nice thing about the acu.....no more tpi worries.
