So I have this old, weird, funky six one barrel intake and carb setup that i got off ebay a couple of years ago, and am tossing around the idea of building a 2.4 to see how it runs. Im not expecting great numbers from it, and im sure tuning it will be a nightmare - but it is WAY cool looking and i gotta try. Im wondering if any of you guys who were around during the t3 era and were involved, or at least have a memory, of what some of this stuff is. The pics ive seen of Racemans setup looks very similar to mine, complete with the 6 tilitsons, but mine is setup for a vertical reed fronthalf, and has funky 3 peddle plastic coated reed blocks in it. There are no casting numbers on it, but there is a small lightening bolt cast into the top of the intake, and the same lightening bolt on all six carb adapters. Anyone remember any aftermarket merc parts having a lightening bolt for an emblem in the late 70's or early 80's? I'll see if i can get some pics.

I've never seen a 6 one barrel setup on anything but a horizontal front made specifically for that and the early Bendix mechanical injection. I wonder if it could be aftermarket.
Post some pics so we can see what you have.

I think I saw this setup on greedbay. It looked a little rough, but was kinda cool. I thought about picking it up just for the heck of it. the Tillotsons were the deal killer for me. Much as I like playin with carbs, those suckers will give you nightmares.

yeah joe - it was that one that you and I were bidding on - if i remember i think i got it for $80. Its actually in very good shape - all the linkage is there and the carbs all move freely. one weird thing about it is that all the carbs angle to starboard - and i cant think why. Raceman - what came with a 3 peddle reed? anything? These look like modern sportjet type things but i know their not, i mean, did any old stuff come with plastic coated cages? The kid i got it from said that it came off a shelf in Seebolds shop in St Louis? that sound legit?
I dont have a camera, but maybe I can get some pics from my phone and post them.

Just took mine apart - the carb adapters and reed cages are a one peice design - very strange. Everything seems to be in really good shape, except for a few chipped reeds - I think it will clean up nice! workin on pics

Vert reeds on a 2liter may juss be tha ticket...even wit tha krazy look'in path, the vert front seems to keep up velosity betta than tha horz(on tha small ci mota)...I ain't thru tess'in juss yet, but it'z look'in like what looks like workz betta, juss ain't reely betta!!:D ....
