I have the following reeds in a blown motor I purchased.

Are these what people are calling rubber coated or are the actual reeds rubber coated. My other question would be what to replace these with. Should I replace them with fiber or go with steel again. The motor is a 96 150 EFI so I will replace all of them because I am not sure how old they are. Is there a big cost difference between the 2 types. I understand that if a steel one lets go it wil damage the inside of the motor whereas the fiber ones will not. How long do each type usually last. They will be used in a fishing motor again running under 6000 rpm.

I use the Tony Doukas Reeds in all my engines ( racing and recreational ) they are fiber and hold up and seal better than any reed I've used.. They are $175.00 USD + Freight ...

Thanks Jay. I will hopefully call you next week and order some. It all depends on my injectors first. They are on their way to Brucato. If I don't have to replace any of them I will have some money for reeds. If not it will be a little longer before I get this thing built.
