I have 91 sylvan deck boat with a 1991 150 Merc. I have done minimal mods to the engine I am wondering if the cheaper Baystar hydraulic system that is rated at 150 or lower will handle this application. Or do I need to spend the money on the Seastar? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I have a Baystar on my Crest pontoon with a OMC V-4 and it works just fine. It's head and shoulders over the original cable system that came on the boat. I can steer it with 1 hand and I don't have to hold the wheel against the motor torque to keep the boat going straight. I have a Sea Star "Pro" on another performance boat and it too works fine, does just what it's supposed to do. If you look close at the 2 units you will find they are pretty much the same design of componets with the Sea Star being more heavy duty. I really hate to second guess the guys who get paid for a living what the specific applications are intended for. If money is not an issue (and I assume it is or you would not be asking) the Sea Star will work just fine as will the "pro" series, but if you just want get away from the cable system and enjoy the benifits of hydraulic the Baystar will be fine.
