Anyone know the HP on a 1999 225 johnson HO?
I read somewhere a stock Evinrude 2000 225 HO was 247hp at the prop..
Sound right?
Thanks

2000 Johnson 225 HO
252 Hp's at the crank and 247 @ the prop if memory serves.

Will run dead nuts even w/a 225 Pro Max and maybe a bit better.

Pretty close, they make over 240, usually between 243 and 247 depending the motor and dyno. The HO is a 250 powerhead.

The H.O. has .080" bigger exhaust ports and a lil richer jetting than the regular 225,if memory serve's me correct.

225 port is 2.170" wide and 1.80" to deck. HO is 2.340" wide and 1.730" to deck. The exhaust relief hole is about 1/2 the size of a 225 also.

That's the only difference between the HO and the 200/225 block. The 200 runs a smaller carb/throttle body than the 225 is the only difference between those two.

But ben and gary are both here. I want a little more bottom end from my 95 225 Venom staying with 91 octance. Should I plug the reliefs or change heads. I still got 4 feet of ice on the lakes up here but my boat is on the driveway ready to go.

Of the two options, plugging reliefs is going to give you the most compression. I think on stock heads, that should give you approx 128 lbs on the top four cylinders. Just remember you have to go up on the main jets and possibly down a couple on the mids.
