I have another overheating problem..again. Last time it was an impeller gasket. So I changed out everything down there, new impeller and gasket and housing.

I have a sportmaster set even with the pad also. Now what happens is that at idle the motor would usually hold around 5psi and maintain 120 deg at idle. At WOT water psi would be around 20 or so.

Now all of a sudden I have almost zero psi at idle...I can rev the engine and the psi gauge jumps up..but falls back to around 1-2psi. When I jump on plane, the psi picks up to around 15 but then drops back off to around 8psi. The impeller is only 6mths old...the t-stats are almost as new as the impeller. My motor has set for almost a month with no use..but other than that, I haven't had any issues prior to this. Boat had been running great up until I put it in the garage and let it sit for almost a month...

Motor is a 06 225x promax also...thanks for reading.

Sounds like an impeller with a memory...

But how long since the poppet valve has been serviced...?

I took the poppet valve out the same time I had the l/u off and t-stats changed. I did find some trash in there..so I cleaned it out and put it back together...I didnt see any cuts or holes in the diaphram..my untrained eye might have missed something? I can't be sure....

how is the temp??????? could have dirt in the line to gauge.

Well the temp at idle will rise instead of holdind around 120 degrees.

As long as I would keep reving the engine...it would stay around the 120 mark. When on plane, my temps stayed around 95 deg..but I didn't stay on plane for long...due to my low water pressure..around 5-8 psi. Just as soon as the boat would plane out the psi would jump to around 15 or so...but then fall around the 5-8 range.

Hope ya'll are enjoying Easter Sunday...sorry for bringing this up today...I am just hoping to get some good ideas for tommorrow when I try to start working on it. I've been busy with Church and haning out with my family and all today.

thanks again:)

i would take the sideplates off your sporty and check for debree with an air hose through the pick ups... then seal it all back up good with a little rtv...

pull the orings out and clean it all up real nice with some break cleaner and blow it all out with an air hose and then seal it up and run it on a hose in the driveway see if you can do any better.
