Tach won't work...

Need help to get tach to work. Was wondering where does the wire that comes off the back of the tach go to? Does it go to the rectifier? If so will that cause the tach not to work? Any hepl would be great. Also there is a dial onthe back of the tach 1 through 4, what sould the dial be pointing to. Any help would be great.

Grey wire iz tha tach signal...kum'z from rectifier or regulator if so equip'd...I thank tha number iz 3...

U kan put thee gray wire on either yeller wire on tha rectifier..

U are the man. I will check those thingz in the am. I did notice that the dial was pointing to #1. If the rectifier iz bad will that cause it not to work?
