I'm pulling my powerhead off my 73 evinrude 115. I'm following my manual here. I'm almost there but I'm not seeing whats still holding my powerhead on. Are there any hiddin bolts or screws under the lower motor cover?

No the bid tree just lifted the back of the trailer up. :-) Yep, it was the long bolts on the sides I did'nt see. No wonder it would'nt let go! I found some busted up rings and piston damaged as well. Motor has already been .030 over and .040 is all I can get for this 1973 dinosaur. The wall scoring aint too bad but just may be a bit more than the .010 differance I'll get in boring. Shall I go 40 over and make it work or can I sleeve this baby? If sleeves are an optioin, what is involved in sleeving?

Try and find a donor motor, a used V4 will cost you less than sleeving that block and you will have lots of spare parts. Look for a 73 135, they were the hottest.

believe it or not, I knew someone on this board has a BRAND NEW, IN THE BOX Block and crank for that motor that he found in his attic....... if you want, I can find out if he still has it.

flabum1017, wow..I'd bet he is the only one in the country with a new block and crank for that motor. Parts for that are extremely hard to find, especially new. If this feller yer talkin about knows what it's worth then it aint in my budget at all. That crank alone is worth $1,000 if new. I spent $1,000 on my cv16 which came with the motor. I did'nt know it was blown. I had to sell one of my cars to be able to afford an engine kit for this thing at about $1,100. I'm stretching a VERY tight budget. I'm hoping to bore or worst case...sleeve for around $325 Now if for some very very strange reason this feller is willing to let the block go for near that price then I'm all excited. Thanks
