Stator question?

In my quest to find out whats causing a mis in my motor..(keep in mind I am not too good on motors ) I noticed upon inspection of my stator where each of the two sets of yellow wires enter the stator, the coils of wire have turned black....all the other coils of wire are still copper looking except for those two where the wires enter. Is this normal? I have the 40 amp charging system

Nope, not normal.

All the coils except 2 are alternator coils that feed those yellow wires, essentially 2 20 amp circuits.

The other 2 coils are charge coils for the switchboxes, tapped for low speed and high speed circuits. If they're burnt, could be the problem.
