i know the backlash guidelines are between .018" and .028".. pretty big margine. wondering if people have a number that they shoot for that works real well.. and if people vary where they set it depending on the temperature of the case.. meaning its winter and stuff is cold when putting together or its sumer and the case is warm.. does anyone shim closer to .018 when its cold and .028 when its hot... anyway just wondering.. i like things to stay together.. so far the lowers i ave put together have been running great and verry little gear wear if any shavings at all.. oil is still real clean.. if i start putting together lower units that will be raced at hi rpm for long periods of time wondering if shimming them tighter is a good idea..
