i have a bobs tuner that is starting to crack. it is in the thin area between the two exhaust tubes. its only maybe 1" long starting from the bottom up. should i get a new one or have my local shop stitch weld it up and hope it stops? any input would help. THANX BEN

Drill a small hole at the end of the crack and let it go.

will the hole work as a relief for the crack? how long should that hold up? and would you still use it in a dry stack situation? THANX BEN

Sometimes drilling a small hole at the end of a crack will alter the cracks run path and stop the progression.

BUT I weld on cast alum tuners all the time, just use a TIG not a MIG, its not a big deal and it can be successfully repaired.

jay, do you think it would help to weld a small piece of alloy rod along the thin part of the tuner? this would be going from side to side on the middle divider between each exaust outlet. it just seems so thin to me there and plenty thick every were else. THANX BEN

Dunno Ben,
I'd have to see where the crack is. You do know that you can buy and new tuner from Bob's machine for about $100.00...

Might be less hassel and cause you less stress and worry, just a thought!
