Upgrade ECM on a 135 HP Optimax

Hi, I have a 135 HP optimax from 1999 with the old ECM (MY99). It is not possible to connect smartcraft to this engine.
Will it be possible to change the ECM to the newer Motorola 555 (still from a 135hp) or is there other differences between the 1998/99 optimax and the newer from 2000 and forward ?
Really like get the smartcraft system where I can control the engine's low rpm when I a fishing.

I think you will find that there are too many changes needed to make that conversion cost effective.
You would be better off to shop around for a 2003 or newer Optimax.
