Anybody use the dinner key ramp and know the waters? Its the ramp in Coconut Grove at the end of 27th and bayshore. Gonna try and hit the water and wake up the engine this week could change the time if anybody is up for a run. I aint got nothing fancy just a boat made from junk. Thanks Rick

Not a lot to know. The parking lot is small, but if it is full there is a bank across the street with a guy on weekends sellng spaces for not much more than the City. When you come in, if there is time left on your parking pass, there is usually a guy who will be happy to help with your lines and the like in return for gettng your pass so he can resell it.
Go out past the sailboats, take the channel East once you clear the islands. As soon as you are about 1/4 mile offshore, it is all pretty deep unless you get out near Stiltsville. Some shallow spots on the inside of Key Biscayne, on weekends usually a number of family boats anchored there swimming.
Rather than typing a bunch, call me if you want more--Pat Gent, 954-249-3246.
Wish I could join you--boat is apart, I am doing one more step on rebuilding seats then going to work.

Thank you for the quick response. I brought down the little boat 16 rallysport with a L6 built by Dave S. I learned a valuable lesson dont bring a boat long distance buy one here. The baja is still up there and I dont have the stamina to pull it down here and I just found storage 4 blocks from the ramp. Its not the fastest boat but it runs strong and is alot of fun. Would like to ride with some of yall. Good luck with the rebuild. Thanks Rick

I bought the 21 Eliminator as my rough water boat after 18 years with a 14' Hydrostream Vandal. Eliminator is way better, but on a weekend I still get beat up pretty bad launching at Dinner Key. Only place to really let it out is just north of the Rickenbacker Causeway, West of the high bridge--it's usually flat there since the wind is from the Southeast and the boats tend to stay south of the causeway or are at an idle.
Boat on weekdays if your job allows.

You can run the east side all the way up to the port as well.... less traffic.

You guys could also launch at Matheson Hammock. Nice big ramp, shorter distance to cross the bay to Elliot's Key! Big Parking lot also.
